How I became a Hypnotherapist
I came from a background of corporate career specialising in customer service prior to becoming a Hypnotherapist. My good friend and I were looking for enrichment courses and he stumbled upon an advertisement in the local papers. After making enquiries with a few Hypnotherapy-Trainers, we took up a professional hypnotherapy course with one of them.
What attracted me to this profession was its efficacy in dealing with a host of challenges which many of us faced from time to time. It seemed incredulous that many issues could be successfully overcomed in less than 6 sessions.
After seeing clients for the past 4 years, I continue to witness people conquering their fears, getting rid of unwanted habits and reaching their goals. In the years to come, hypnotherapy is likely to grow even more as the media has been giving it ever-increasing coverage, and more therapists are trained.
Hypnotherapy is a proven methodology that helps us improve ourselves. Very often, working on our conscious will power alone is insufficient to bring about the changes we desire. Hypnotherapy is effective because it goes to the core of any issue – our subconscious mind! And my approach is based on self empowerment, which essentially means that I want you to continue to be able to reap the benefits even after therapy.
Often, our logical, critical and conscious mind is aware of what we need to do to change for the better. However, our efforts may be sabotaged by our subconscious mind, resulting in us falling back to the old habit. With the use of hypnotherapy, we bypass our critical factor and our subconscious mind is most receptive to the positive, therapeutic suggestions made.
What is hypnosis/hypnotherapy like?
Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis for therapeutic purposes. Your hypnotherapist is the vehicle for change. He or she is a trained professional who will help you reach your goals.
Hypnosis is a state of focused awareness. Your hypnotherapist will guide you to achieve this state. You will then receive what is known as hypnotic suggestions. These suggestions will enable you to make the changes which you desire.
For some people, they may also be brought back to the past through a technique known as regression. This is done for the purpose of seeking release and letting go of unpleasant experiences.
Ultimately, the aim is to achieve well being and attain one’s goals.
Can I be hypnotized?
Most of us have been hypnotized several times, even on a daily basis, without being aware of it!
Normal, everyday hypnosis occurs when you are reading or watching TV for example, and are so absorbed that you are not even aware that someone is calling you repeatedly. As long as you are of at least normal intelligence and willing to follow the simple instructions of the hypnotherapist, you can utilize the power of hypnosis to improve your life.
About me
I have been using hypnosis to help people deal with issues such as stress, insomnia, pain, smoking, weight management, emotional problems, handling relationships, fear of heights, learning difficulties, etc.
I suggest that you call and speak with me or make an appointment to visit one of us (there are other therapists at the centre) so that you can learn more about hypnotherapy and what it can do for you. At the same time, I can have a better understanding of the goals you wish to achieve and give you the appropriate advice.
More and more people are getting acquainted with hypnosis as they see it being reported more often in magazines, articles, radio and TV. In fact, it is one of the fastest growing fields of human achievement. Often, hypnotherapists work with people who are frustrated because nothing else has helped them achieve their goals. Through hypnotherapy and self hypnosis, we help people make the important changes in their lives.
Hypnotherapy can also be used as a complementary treatment for some medical and psychological issues. We can contact your doctor to make sure that hypnosis is appropriate for your situation. Some of these issues include pain management, stress related illness and any issue that has been labeled psychogenic in origin.
